Women’s Network

Regional Voice Theatre are creating a support network for professional female artists active and working in the Midlands. Since establishing our company in 2014, we’ve been overwhelmed by the number of determined, talented Midlands-based women who apply and audition to work with us – a number far exceeding that of male performers.

We know this imbalance doesn’t only apply to theatre, and that women in the creative sector are having to fight hard to employ their versatility as artists, and establish their careers. We want to respond to this with a network that supports women, connects women, and provides them with consistent opportunities to share and to work.

Whether you’re a theatre director, actor, dancer, choreographer, painter, musician, or writer – and are working professionally in your field, you’re welcome to apply for network membership.

What next?

After the success of our first Network Meeting in May, we are making plans to schedule a second event. This event promises to be more interactive, with a day-long schedule of workshops and evening presentations.

This event will contribute to the strength of our ACE funding application, which we hope to submit in September 2018. It’s also an opportunity for you to share your craft, engage with new disciplines, and gain insight into the future of the Network. It’s important to us that opportunities to share new work – be it in theatre, dance, choreography, art, or music – and learn from one another, are regular and consistent. Events like this will set the wheel in motion, and we hope you’ll join us in making it as lively, welcoming and fruitful an event as possible.

If you are interested in hosting a workshop, combined with a presentation of works-in-progress on evening, please email Helen: regionalvoicetheatre@gmail.com.

Please note this will be a ticketed event. Cost will be low, but enough to cover tea/coffee and space hire.

We look forward to hearing from you!
